The Butterfly is a simple layout consisting of seven poles which can be on the floor, raised or even made in to jumps. There are a number of different exercises you can do with this layout, focusing on straightness and bend. When riding the loops, make sure that you keep the size of the loops equal in both directions on both reins. If there is a pattern forming and you notice your horse is struggling with bending in one direction then he may need a massage to relieve the tight muscles.
